My genuine mind set for this challenge is to promote awareness of mental health…raise money for our chosen charities, and because of this amazing once in a lifetime challenge, get myself fit… lose 3 stone! (Otherwise, the poor kayak will not stand a chance).

As a 44 year old family man who has piled a lot of weight on over the lockdown period, I want to grow old in relative good health and watch my kids grow up and be there to experience it all with them every step of the way!  I needed a goal/target/challenge in my life to help me achieve this and succeed. Thanks Mark, for planting the seed.

Having always been ‘sporty’ type and loved a challenge, unfortunately I have taken my eye off the ball in the last few years, too busy with the business / not got enough time etc… something I’m sure we can all relate to, and 2020 itself has been a difficult year for most.

I am genuinely nervous, but also extremely excited – this will be the hardest thing I have ever done in my life. The event will take enormous mental strength as well as an extremely high level of fitness / stamina. I am currently over 20 stone – the biggest I have ever been in my life and I do not like it!  Time for a change, and what a way to do it! Life is all about making memories and pushing yourself every day, well this will certainly do that.

A massive thank you to Tracey (and my kids) for allowing me to go on this 6-month epic journey. As always, she has my back and belief / support in everything I do. I am an incredibly lucky man.

Let’s do this!  Training is underway and I have already been in the water – twice (not through choice!) and it was a real shock.

A massive heartfelt thank you to everyone for your support – kind words of encouragement and donations / sponsorship. All will be essential to get us through this challenge.
